Race for Riget 2016: plenty of supercars

Updated 17 Oct 2023

Are you also a fan of the chance to go out and ride as a co-driver in a supercar? You had that chance during Race for Riget 2016 in Copenhagen. The co-driver rides went to charity. The charity event Race for Riget is a "mini event" held during Copenhagen Historic Grand Prix.

Here you can see some of the supercars you could choose between:

Here are a few more pictures of the supercars you could choose between during Race for Riget 2016:

Safety is of course always top priority at this supercar event. So everyone naturally has to wear a helmet when getting a ride as a co-driver.

When you buy yourself a co-driver ride, you can choose between the categories Gold, Silver and Bronze. In the Silver and Bronze categories it's random which supercar you end up riding in. But Race for Riget has always made sure to attract plenty of gorgeous supercars.

In the Gold category you can choose your "favourite driver" in his/her respective supercar. That could be, for example, Tom Kristensen in an Audi or Jan Magnussen in a Corvette. Once you've bought your ticket, you have to queue until it's your turn to get a co-driver experience.
Two name signs, Jan M and Tom K, hang on a barrier. Behind it, the legs and feet of people in the paddock are visible.

Race for Riget has a volunteer helper assigned to each car. This means that when it's your turn, they lead you to the car. You might wonder why they need to lead you to the car, but it simply has to do with the fact that you're wearing a helmet and it's hard to get a full overview of what's on the ground and so on. So it works really well.

And here racing legend Tom Kristensen gets ready, so the co-driver can get a ride beyond the ordinary.

And shortly after, the supercars drive out onto the track in Copenhagen one by one.

Swedish Koenigsegg had brought along two supercars, to the great delight of the guests, since this Swedish brand must be said to be extremely rare in Denmark.

On the track in Copenhagen, the co-drivers get two laps at full throttle, regardless of which car brand they're riding in.

It's always a pleasure to watch the different supercar brands go head to head. And when you're a passenger, it's of course even more fun. By the way, notice the Kia, where a flame shoots out of the exhaust placed on the side of the car. This is actually normal for this particular Kia model, which is very special and fast.

After two breathtaking laps, the supercars leave the track so a new co-driver can get two fast laps on the racetrack in Copenhagen.

When the ride is over, the co-drivers are always in ecstasy. Here's a woman who just got two very fast laps around the racetrack from Jan Magnussen in his red Corvette.
