Porsche 997 GT2 RS tour at FDM Jyllandsringen 2014
Just outside Silkeborg is a small town called Resenbro where FDM Jyllandsringen is located, with great views of the countryside. Jyllandsringen has been holding motor races since 1966. Today, the Sportscar Event 2014 is on the program to raise money for the Children’s Cancer Foundation.
We arrive a little before 9 am. It will be exciting to see which super cars have arrived. We pay the entrance fee and walk to the parking area, where the super cars are parked along the edge, side by side. Then over to the stands to watch and listen to them race. A choice has to be made, which car should it be.
Choice made, back to the ticket booth to buy a ticket for a co-driver trip. It was the ultra-fast Porsche 997 GT2 RS. A 6-cylinder boxer engine with 700 HP, delivering a 0-100 time of 3.1 seconds.
Now the fun begins. A nice feeling. There’s no queue at the white Porsche 997 GT2 RS with the Michelin man on the side, so the next trip is mine.
The car is equipped with a cage and fire extinguisher, which looks good. I open the car door and step into a completely different world. Buckle up your seat belt. I’m ready to go. I hope my “driver” knows how to drive such a hefty Porsche.
The car is started, we quietly sneak out of the parking area in the direction of the track. We accelerate out of the entrance, the track is clear, a left turn and we are on the track. Here it is to be enjoyed how the 700 hp Porsche 997 GT2 RS eats up one corner after another.
We approach a fast Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 and prepare for an attack just before the straight. It is nibbled, great. Wow, this Porsche 997 GT2 RS is fast! It’s a great experience to feel how it accelerates, effortlessly taking corners, often with the sound of the tires indicating that there is still some contact with the road.
Finally, all that remains is to say thank you for the trip. Another great car experience.
