Dodge Viper SRT-10 with 800+ hp, American cars at their best!!

We're back in 2009, and it's once again time for the fantastic event "Sportscarevent". It's an annually recurring event where you can buy yourself a ride in a gorgeous, fast sports car while also supporting a good cause.

We're on our way to Sjællandsringen, just outside Roskilde. It's warm, sunny with a clear sky, so we've rolled our windows down. As we get closer to Sjællandsringen, we start to hear the lovely engine sound from all the fantastic supercars warming up. It's a sound that's hard to describe. But I can reveal that it's gorgeous! We park the car and walk over to buy tickets. While we're in the queue we can see some of the gorgeous supercars. The sound also gets louder as we get closer to actually being inside.

It's not every day you see a row of supercars gathered in one place, and certainly not in Denmark!
We've now reached the spot on the grounds where we can look at the supercars. The supercars are placed higher up than the track itself, which gives a good view, letting you follow which supercars are fastest on the day.

There's a huge gathering of supercars. Among others there's a Corvette, Ferrari, Bentley, Dodge Viper, Porsche, Mercedes McLaren, Lamborghini, Ford Mustang and a few other cars. There's everything your heart could desire, enough to make any car enthusiast's mouth water.

We stand and study the cars. We haven't quite decided which car we're going to go out and ride in. Of course we'd love to ride in all of them today, but that's probably not going to happen today.

Oh, it's hard to choose. There are so many gorgeous, rare cars. But there's one car that stands out a little. It's a Dodge Viper. But not just any ordinary Dodge Viper. This is a Dodge Viper SRT-10 with an enormous displacement of 8.3L. But that's not enough. It also has twin turbo, since a single turbo obviously isn't enough on this fantastic vehicle. It has more than 800 hp and is extremely fast! It's red with two white racing stripes across it. Altogether a gorgeous, raw American design.

I don't know if anyone else has watched the American TV series "Viper"? When I was little, I thought it was incredibly cool and watched it several times.
So now that we have the chance to try a genuine Dodge Viper, well, it actually wasn't that hard to choose.
Plus, the driver looks insanely like the American actor Vin Diesel. So all in all, it doesn't get much more American than this.

We wait for our turn. There are three of us trying a ride as co-driver: Bent, Jesper and Asbjørn.

Every supercar had a helper assigned to it, who could help with belts, when the driver had to reverse, getting water and so on. This was so everything would run as smoothly as possible, so it would be a great experience for everyone involved, and so Sportscarevent could raise as much money as possible for charity.

Now it's time! The door opens, a person steps out, and the helper signals that it's our turn. Bent chooses to go first. He becomes the guinea pig, ha ha.

There's full throttle on the back straight. The top speed is around 170 km/h to 220 km/h on the back straight, depending on the individual car. We reckon the Dodge Viper was one of the fastest in the field.

Luckily Bent thought it was great fun. The rest of us probably wouldn't have backed out either...

But now it's my turn. I'm a tall guy at around 1.94 m, and to my great surprise there was plenty of legroom. I could stretch my legs all the way out with no problem. The comfort is also top notch, with gorgeous leather bucket seats.
I get strapped in, the door closes and we start reversing. I can feel the butterflies in my stomach. The feeling of sitting in this gorgeous Dodge Viper, among all these supercars, is a very special feeling.
We drive up to the starting point, a small downhill slope where the ride really begins once the throttle is floored. We wait behind a Ferrari that has to go first, so the way is clear for us.

Where the track exit meets the end of the back straight, there's a man keeping watch over when it's okay to go.

The man gives the signal, and the Ferrari takes off.

Shortly after we also get the go ahead and take off. I get pushed hard back into the seat. It accelerates fast, really fast! But it's fun, really fun! The first corner is taken right at the car's limit, so you can feel the rear end slide/drift a little.
It's an amazing feeling to experience this Dodge Viper accelerate, handle the corners, the high speed on the back straight and the sound.
After 2 laps we drive in and park. My whole body is buzzing with ecstasy. It was indescribably fun. I step out of the super gorgeous Dodge Viper with a huge smile.

Now it's Asbjørn's turn, who's also been really looking forward to it.

When getting in and out, we were told to be a little careful. The reason is that on this Dodge Viper, the exhaust sits right under the door, and it's HOT! It looks cool, but you have to remember to be a bit careful, especially if you're wearing shorts...!

Asbjørn gets strapped in and the car starts reversing. He already has a huge smile on his face. I think he already knows a big experience is waiting for him.

The way is clear for him, so it's straight off down the hill and out onto the track. The driver doesn't hold back, and there's full throttle. I can't help but imagine that Asbjørn also gets an absolutely fantastic ride! He at least steps out of the car with a huge smile...
